I decided to swing over to Doobie's after a night of Fringe Festival festivities.
I guess I had gotten tired of people I barely knew asking me what I was doing
for the festival. All the people I knew well asked me how I was.
Cindy was bartending, which made me happy. I knew she wouldn't but me about not
being ambitious. Besides, she poured me a very nice bourbon.
There was a tap on my shoulder. Me being a fool, I turned around. It was Mary.
She looked good. She was smiling. All women look good when they smile. We talked.
It was nice. She introduced me to her boyfriend. He looked like a sleazeball
and kept giving me the glare. I let it drift.
Cindy poured me another bourbon. Some bartenders have the gift of pardon. I drank
another whiskey while Mary waved good-bye and her boyfriend glared.
I let it drift.
I went back to the room.
